Feedback Announces Internship Program with Purdue Anthropology

September 27, 2023

Digital ethnography pioneers Feedback and Purdue University’s Department of Anthropology are proud to announce a new internship program beginning fall of 2023. This paid program will feature two interns who will receive the specialized training for conducting digital ethnographic research as well as work directly on healthcare-focused Feedback clients for a semester. Feedback’s extensive 14-year experience in healthcare includes work studying statewide managed care programs, patient experience and condition-specific communities, clinical workforce burnout, and more. Purdue Undergraduates Sophie Mbongo and Michelle Rundquist will be the first recipients of the internships, managed by Dr. Sarah Renkert, Purdue’s Professor of Practice.

The new internships continue a partnership that began in 2020 as Feedback provided opportunities for Purdue University Graduate Students in Anthropology to broaden skills and expand career opportunities. In the last three years a dozen Purdue students have trained and worked with Feedback on projects ranging from food insecurity to pediatrics.

Dean Browell, Chief Behavioral Officer for Feedback remarked, “We have been honored to work with Purdue’s Department of Anthropology and it’s incredible faculty and students. These internships are an exciting evolution of our partnership, bringing direct work experience in applying anthropological studies for undergraduates at Purdue.”

“It’s a win-win situation when our students gain valuable work experience and learn about how anthropological knowledge and skills can be put to use. Partnering with Feedback is a wonderful opportunity because it benefits their work, our education, and how the learning and impact flows in all directions,” said Dr. Sherylyn Briller, Professor of Anthropology at Purdue University and past President of the Society for Applied Anthropology.

Purdue University’s Department of Anthropology is an innovative program using anthropological knowledge and skills to understand and make changes in the world. The signature Anthropologies of Tomorrow (AOT) departmental initiative (http://www.cla.purdue.edu/anthropology) embraces publicly engaged and interdisciplinary scholarship that includes community partnerships, and preparation of students for diverse and impactful careers. As a leading-edge Department of Anthropology in a research-intensive university with a public service mission, they feature an exciting interface between students, faculty, practitioners, and community partners.
